roarieyum:

Art is supposed to challenge you. Art is supposed to make you think. When art is censored, the art makes a different statement. A statement of what is socially acceptable and what isn’t. The censored parts are deemed dangerous to the public and become demonized/shameful to put on display, to talk about. Coincidentally when censored those parts become the focal point of the art, in which the viewer has no choice but to notice.
When I create with my body, my intent is not to illicit a sexual response, instead I am trying to have a discussion about strength and vulnerability. Yet this is lost when censored.

Nudity isn’t inherently sexual and sexuality isn’t inherently bad.
Instagram take ownership of the power you have to free people from unnecessary shame. The shame to talk about, the shame to show, the shame to feel comfortable in our own bodies. #Choosepeopleinsteadofprofits
